A growing physician-led managed care organization is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician to lead a brand-new primary care clinic anticipated to open in September–October 2026 in Athens, Alabama.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a physician who enjoys developing patient relationships, growing a practice, and helping establish a new clinic within a rapidly expanding healthcare organization.

The incoming physician will serve as the primary provider for the location and play a key role in building the patient panel, community presence, and long-term success of the clinic.

About the Practice

This organization specializes in providing comprehensive, relationship-based care to adult and senior patients in a value-based care environment.

Physicians are encouraged to spend meaningful time with patients while focusing on preventive medicine, chronic disease management, and improved long-term health outcomes.

The ideal candidate is comfortable practicing independently, engaging with the local community, and helping grow a newly established clinic.


Responsibilities

Outpatient Primary Care

Provide comprehensive primary care services to adult and geriatric patients in an outpatient setting.

Practice Development

Assist with building and growing the patient panel while establishing the clinic as a trusted healthcare resource within the community.

Chronic Disease Management

Manage conditions including:

  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • COPD
  • Heart Disease
  • Hyperlipidemia
  • Other chronic medical conditions

Preventive Medicine

Promote wellness, preventive screenings, and population health initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes.

Team Collaboration

Work closely with care coordinators, referral specialists, and support staff to ensure exceptional patient care and clinic growth.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in:
    • Internal Medicine (IM)
    • Family Medicine (FM)
  • Active Alabama Medical License or Ability to Obtain
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Interest in value-based care and population health
  • Comfortable functioning as the primary physician within a new clinic environment
  • Motivated to help build and grow a patient panel
